Pennington not going to play against Ravens

Chad Pennington's bad ankle will keep him out of action against the Baltimore Ravens this Sunday. Kellen Clemens will start. The announcement was made by Dave Hutchinson of the Newark Star-Ledger and Tom Rock of Newsday.

"Jets second-year quarterback Kellen Clemens will replace Chad Pennington and make his first NFL start against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, according to three people familiar with the severity of Pennington's right ankle injury and the Jets' plans," wrote Hutchinson.

"A person familiar with the situation said last night that although the Jets will not make an announcement, second-year backup Kellen Clemens will be running the offense in Week 2," wrote Rock.
