Hard at Work

The Jets practiced for two-and-a-half hours this morning, and Herm Edwards said they will continue to focus more on improving their own play, as opposed to game planning for their opponents.

The players will have the weekend off, but Edwards said they should not be relaxing.

"If you enjoy those days off, you're really missing something," said Edwards, who expects his players to evaluate where they're at individually, whether they're satisfied with their play thus far, and expects them to be anxious to return to practice on Monday.

Edwards and the Jets were very impressed with the speed of WR Jonathan Carter, which was why they signed him off of waivers from the Giants. Carter participated in his first Jet practice today. Although they are impressed with Carter's speed, Edwards said he will only dress four wide receivers for games. When WR Wayne Chrebet comes back, Carter and QB/WR Tory Woodbury will be the odd men out. Chrebet will not return to practice until at least Wednesday of next week, but should be ready to go when the Jets host the Vikings on October 20th.
