Jets Notebook - Is LB in line for a promotion

What's up with Tutt? . . . could the Jets have a couple of new LB's on Sunday . . . practice squader gets hurt . . .

It looks like the knee injury running back Stacy Tutt suffered is serious.

The second-year player out of Richmond hurt his knee at practice on Thursday, and is out for the Jets-Steelers game. It's possible he could end up on IR.

If he does got to injured reserve list, look for the Jets to possibly promote outside linebacker Jason Trusnik to the regular roster. The rookie out of Ohio Northern has impressed in practice, and could be added to help the team's disappointing pass rush. Trusnik was a dominant pass rusher on the Division 3 level collegiately. Remember the Jets also added pass rusher Marques Murrell last week, so it's possible that these two rookies could be in the mix at linebacker against Pittsburgh. The Jets pass rush needs help, and these guys both have good natural pass rushing ability.

It's also possible the Jets could elevate running back Danny Ware from the practice squad. The Georgia-product was the Jets best running back in training camp, and could be brought up to give the team some depth.

Remember while Tutt is listed a fullback, he was also the team's third-string tailback.

The Jets also might need to add another player to their practice squad. Wide receiver Evan Prall was seen hobbling very badly in the Jets locker room after practice, on what looked like a serious ankle injury. You have to be feel bad for Prall, a longshot out of East Stroudburg, who has been on the practice squad less than two weeks.
