McGraw to Platoon with Garnes

Safety Sam Garnes will now be in a platoon role with rookie Jon McGraw.

McGraw's speed will be a big advantage in helping cover WR Randy Moss on Sunday, and he plays the ball very well for a safety. Garnes was one of the Jets' big free agent signings over the off-season, but has struggled in his pass coverage and his tackling has been hindered by a broken thumb. With Garnes and Damien Robinson playing together, the secondary has been lacking in speed, something McGraw can help with.

WR Wayne Chrebet was very active in practice today and looked to be running well on his injured knee. Chrebet has been non-committal however on whether he will go on Sunday…RB Curtis Martin also ran well in practice today and looks to be completely healed from the sprained ankle he suffered in week one.

The secondary had a good practice today, with the highlights being interceptions from CB's Aaron Beasley, Ray Mickens, and Andrew Davison.

Today's stormy weather caused a brief power outage at the Jets' practice facility today. The team's practice in the bubble was interrupted when the lights went out.

Herman Edwards joked with his team this morning by giving out pens to all of his wide receivers. This was in response to the incident during Monday night's football game, in which WR Terrell Owens pulled a pen out of his socks and signed the football in the end zone, after scoring a touchdown.
