A player who can help Jets enters draft

The more juniors that enter the draft, the better the sixth pick of the first round is going to look for the Jets. A junior who can help the Jets a great deal entered the draft on Thursday.

University of Florida defensive end Derrick Harvey declared for the draft.

"I was told I am projected as a first-round pick," said Harvey. "It's time for a change. I just told my coaches."

Harvey is an outstanding pass rusher who had two sacks in Florida's loss to Michigan in the Gator Bowl. While he played defensive end for the Gators, he has 3-4 OLB written all over him on the next level at 6-5, 250 pounds. He's a great athlete who is runs in the 4.6 area.

If he works out well at the combine and his Pro Day workout, he could be a consideration for the Jets with the sixth pick overall.

The Jets are in dire need of a pass rushing OLB, and will likely grab one in the first two rounds.
