Once again the Jets plan on going after a New England Patriots player. The announcement was made by Rich Cimini.
"From what I heard, the Jets are planning to make a serious run at [Asante Samuel
]," wrote Cimini. "As you probably know, the Patriots can't use the franchise tag on Samuel, per an agreement with the team before he signed a one-year deal. That means he will hit the open market - unless the Pats can re-sign him to a long-term deal before March. Can you imagine a Samuel-Darrelle Revis
cornerback tandem for the Jets?"
Some in the NFL consider Samuel a "system" cornerback, so the Jets should probably be careful overpaying him.
