Jets lose another good DB coach

The Jets have lost two really smart secondary minds since the season ended.

First secondary coach Mike McIntyre left to become the defensive coordinator at Duke University.

And then this past week, Jets defensive assistant Ed Donatell became the defensive coordinator at the University of Washington.

While Donatell didn't have an official title (and his hiring was never announced), he spent the entire 2007 season helping out with the defense. And Donatell has always been considered an excellent defensive back tutor. He was the Jets secondary coach under Pete Carroll.

The Jets are still looking for a new secondary coach. They are also still on the look-out for a new special team's coach with Mike Westhoff taking a leave of absence.

Expect these two positions to be filled in the coming weeks.

But remember one thing about the job of DB coach. Eric Mangini is very hands-on when if comes to coaching the secondary. Remember, he was the long-time defensive back's coach in New England.
