Lewis Injured

LB Mo Lewis sprained his left ankle in practice today and had to leave the field.

It has not yet been determined how serious the sprain is, or how long Lewis could be out. LB Jason Glenn replaced him in practice.

In his press conference this morning, Herman Edwards became incensed when asked if he was concerned about his team quitting on him if the losing continued.

"That's unthinkable to me," said Edwards. "it's inexcusable. You don't quit in sports. It's not an option. You can retire, but you ain't quitting. Not on my watch. They know who their coach is. They know they don't have any choice. This is what happens when you lose. People start assuming you quit. Well this team ain't doing that."

Chad Pennington uttered the same sentiments.

"There's no way on the face of this earth that this team's going to quit. There's no way, there's no doubt in my mind that this team's going to keep fighting. Like I've said all year long, those are the type of guys that we have. It is not over, by no stretch of the imagination. It is not over at all. Really, we have no pressure on us right now. We have an opportunity to make history, and that's what I plan on us doing."

T Kareem McKenzie was held out of practice today to rest his sprained ankle. He is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Chargers. If McKenzie can't go, look for T Jumbo Elliott to play left tackle, with T Jason Fabini shifting over to the right side. There is some concern that Elliott is not in the condition to play a whole game anymore. If the team feels it necessary, they will activate an extra lineman for Sunday, which would be G/T Darnell Alford.

DT Jason Ferguson has a bruised left shoulder and sat out of practice today. He is also listed as questionable. If Ferguson can't go on Sunday, DT Giradie Mercer will be activated off of the practice squad and rotate at DT with Larry Webster and James Reed.  S Jon McGraw is progressing from his neck stinger injury, but will not see any contact in practice.

RB Curtis Martin was held out of practice today because the team practiced in the bubble, and didn't want Martin on the artificial turf.  Guard's J.P. Machado and Jonathan Goodwin were in a platoon role in practice today, and should continue to platoon in the Chargers game.
