Lewis Day-to-Day

The sprained left ankle that linebacker Mo Lewis suffered in practice yesterday is not severe, and he is listed as day-to-day, and probable for Sunday's game against the Chargers.

Lewis did not practice today.

DT Jason Ferguson is questionable with a sore shoulder and sat out of practice today. T Kareem McKenzie is questionable with a sprained right ankle. RB Curtis Martin participated in some light drills today, but not much else. His legs are sore and the Jets want him to rest.

DE John Abraham turned his ankle in practice today. He got the ankle taped on the sideline, and returned to practice.

SS Sam Garnes had his best game of the season against the Browns last week, and the Jets believe it is because they kept him in the box and closer to the line of scrimmage, so he could play more of a linebacker style on certain situations and zones. Garnes is better run stuffer than pass protector, and the Jets want to take advantage of his tackling skills.

The Jets are concerned with the Chargers running attack with LaDainian Tomlinson, but will not alter their defensive schemes entirely. The difficulty with the Chargers attack is that, if you put eight in the box to cover the run, the Chargers are a good play-action passing team, and Drew Brees can hurt you. It will be a tough assignment for the Jets defense.
