Lavaranues Coles not present for first week

The Jets off-season conditioning program started on Monday, and wide receiver Laveranues Coles wasn't there. In fact, he wasn't there the entire week. He's upset with his current contract that has two years remaining.

Coles is scheduled to make $11 million over the next two years. He wants more money and a longer deal. Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum has offered to guarantee those two years, which essentially amounts to an $11 million signing bonus. This isn't good enough for Coles, and that is why he is holding out. He also told the Newark Star-Ledger the Jets "lied" to him about his contract.
