Scott - Jets will host a top CB prospect

One of the draft's top cornerback prospects will be visiting Hempstead next week to meet with Gang Green, according to's Jon Scott.

Virginia Tech's Brandon Flowers will be flying into New York on the morning of April 16 and spending the day with Mike Tannenbaum and company. He will leave on April 17.

Because of his lack of ideal size (5-9 3/4) and speed (4.57), Flowers likely won't go in the first round. So when the Jets are on the clock in the second round, he could be a possibility.

But while he doesn't have great size and speed, he's an excellent player with terrific ball skills and toughness. He's very willing against the run for a player his size. Flowers also has very good instincts, and doesn't fall for play-fakes as much as most young corners do.

So if he has a good visit with Gang Green, he could be a player the team targets in Round Two. Or perhaps in the late first if they trade down. It's no secret the Jets could use a starting cornerback opposite Darrelle Revis.
