The Jets signed former Baltimore Ravens running back Musa Smith on Tuesday. Here is the skinny on the Georgia-product from a close observer of the Ravens -
"He is a tough guy, good person, pretty natural inside runner," said the observer. "He has a nose for the end zone, soft hands, is a good blocker and very good at special-teams. He is a tackle-breaking back with toughness. He is a very hard worker, and was very popular in the locker room. He is a dead ringer for LL Cool J. He should be a solid backup."
But why was Smith still on the street as a free agent in late May? The answer to that is simple - he's had a rough time staying healthy throughout his career.
"It was his injury history (that left him unsigned)," said the observer. "He was concerned that he wasn't going to get an offer. He did have a good injury-free season last year."
