Coles Added to Injury List

WR Laveranues Coles left practice yesterday with soreness in his back, and is now listed as probable for Sunday's game in Detroit.

Coles was not able to do anything in practice today, and was walking gingerly with his torso taped up. He will be re-evaluated tomorrow.

G Dave Szott continues to get better and has been participating in practice, although not taking contact. The Jets will have to decide next week if they are going to add Szott to the active roster, or put him on the injured reserve list, which would mean he couldn't return this season. Herman Edwards thinks Szott is capable of coming back, and it appears as though he will able to. Szott could be ready to play by December.

Edwards' talk with Donnie Abraham during the bye week appears to have paid off. Abraham has been much more consistent, and is showing good awareness and anticipation. He had another interception last week against Miami, but it was called back by a penalty on DT Larry Webster. Edwards however, still thinks Abraham should have more interceptions.

"He should have about six right now," Edwards said. "I tell him all the time he should have about six. But he is playing better. Most of the guys are starting to play better back there, and it's good to see."

The Lions have been riddled with injuries this season, and it appears to be getting worse as we head toward Sunday's game. WR Desmond Howard was placed on the injury reserve list and is done for the season. WR Larry Foster has been doing the kickoff returning for the Lions, but is now questionable with a shoulder injury. If Foster can't play, Detroit will have to us their third-string kickoff returner Aveion Cason.

LB Khary Campbell is still questionable with a left foot injury, and G Jonathan Goodwin was upgraded to probable with a shoulder contusion.
