Joey Harrington on facing the Jets

Can you talk about what the Jets pass rush has shown you on film? I have just started watching film, and I don't know a whole lot. But I do know that our offensive line is playing very well. If I am not mistaken, we have given up the fewest sacks in the league in the time that I have been playing. And they have done a tremendous job all season. I don't expect to do anything different.

I have just started watching film, and I don't know a whole lot.  But I do know that our offensive line is playing very well.  If I am not mistaken, we have given up the fewest sacks in the league in the time that I have been playing.  And they have done a tremendous job all season.  I don't expect to do anything different.

Is part of the few sacks a result of your mobility?

Yes, definitely, I am a very very very mobile QB (laughter) and I enjoy running around a lot.  I think I have been put in a very good situation in the fact that my coaches have done a very good job of teaching me how to get out of bad situations, meaning checking the ball down, getting outside the pocket and throwing the ball away.  There is nothing wrong with lining up with second and ten as opposed to taking a sack and lining up for second and 15.  There are times when it is good to throw the ball away and they have done a good job of caching me.

Is there any part of you that wishes you had a longer internship as Chad had here?

Not at all.  I love playing.  After a couple of games I was anxious to get back on the field again.  I feel great in the situation I am in, I feel like I am learning a lot very quickly, and I never second-guess situations.  This is what has happened, this is what is going to happen, and I've got to deal with it. I am enjoying myself.

How difficult has it been for you playing for a team that is not winning?

It is difficult, but I am encouraged because we are learning what it takes to win.  I know a lot of winning is mental.  You gotta have that attitude, you've gotta have that confidence—that belief that no one is going to come in and beat you.  And we have been in some close situations early in the season, we have been in some close games and lost them, but then we have been able to learn form what we did, and we have pulled out some close games later on in the season.  So I am encouraged by the progress we are making, and I am really honestly excited for what we've got going in the future.
