Smith loses appeal

Eric Smith lost the appeal of his one game suspension and $50,000 fine for his helmet-to-helmet hit on Arizona's Anquan Boldin. The announcement was made by Rich Cimini.

"Eric Smith lost his appeal Tuesday, as the NFL upheld its one-game suspension of the Jets safety," wrote Cimini in the Wednesday Daily News. "The incident came less than two weeks after commissioner Roger Goodell sent a leaguewide memo to players, saying the league was cracking down on illegal hits."
