The New York Jets announced that QB Erik Ainge and RB Jesse Chatman have been placed on the Injured Reserve list.
Ainge (6-5, 221/Tennessee/Hillsboro, OR), who has a right foot injury, was the Jets 2008 fifth-round selection out of Tennessee. He was inactive for all seven games this season. Ainge finished his collegiate career completing 733-of-1,210 passes (60.6 percent) for 8,700 yards, 72 touchdowns and 35 interceptions in 46 games (35 starts).
Chatman (5-8, 225/Eastern Washington/Seattle, WA), who has a left knee injury, was in his sixth NFL season. In 2008, he played in three games for the Jets, logging five special teams tackles, gaining eight yards on five carries and two receptions for five yards. He signed with the Jets on March 11.
