Leon not happy with contract situation

Cortland - The fact that dismayed running back Leon Washington is back at Jets camp, doesn't mean there has been progress with his contract.

In fact, negotiations aren't going well.

"I'm busting my butt and not getting rewarded, I'm disappointed, I'm not happy," said Washington early Friday evening. "It's not going the way I want it to."

In fact, a deal doesn't seem to be close to reaching fruition.

"I'm not confident something will get done," said Washington.

Then why did he report to camp?

"It came down to how fortunate I am to play football," said Washington. "I wanted to be here to be with my teammates."

But how does he stay motivated on the field when he's disgusted with his contract?

"When I'm on this field, it's back to my childhood in Jacksonville," said Washington.

Washington is looking for a deal in the $6 million a year range. It's unclear what the Jets are offering, but it's not the kind of money that Washington is looking for.

"There is still a gap there," said Washington. "I'm not happy about it."
