Jets Fire Wide Receivers Coach

In their first offseason coaching move, the New York Jets fired wide receivers coach Mose Rison after two seasons.

Rison became the first assistant under coach Herman Edwards to be fired. He told the Daily News he was stunned by the decision.

"It's unbelievable," said Rison. "I'm absolutely shocked. I had a great experience for two years. My goal was to improve the wide receivers and I was excited about what we were able to accomplish. But they said they want to go in a different direction. I'm puzzled. I'll leave it at that."

Rison was the only assistant who did not have a contract for 2003. Jets' GM Terry Bradway declined to comment.
