Penn State DE Jared Odrick - I think I bring a lot of versatility at multiple positions that I've played before and am capable of playing in the future. I like to think I'm a high-character guy. I get along with everybody on the team. Somebody who's going to work hard. Somebody who is going to fight for a starting spot and earn respect. That's what you're going to get when you're dealing with Jared Odrick.
Q)What positions in the NFL are you hearing most from scouts?
Odrick: I've heard 5 technique in a 3-4. I've heard 1 technique in a 3-4. I've heard 3 technique in a 4-3. I've heard 5 tecnique and 7 technique in a 4-3. I'm hearing a lot right now.
Q)What position are you most comfortable playing?
Odrick: I've been playing 3 technique the most in a 4-3 defense the past 3-4 years. So I feel most comfortable at that. But I think I can find success at multiple positions. I'm just excited to see what's coming.
Q)How close were you to coming out last year?
Odrick: I considered it for a second or two. I just wanted to put some feelers out there and get some feedback from the NFL. That's what I did. As soon as it came back, I said, all right, I heard all I needed to hear. I came back and wanted to be with my team and try to win the Big 10 again.
We had a great season and I think I improved a whole lot from where I was last year. So I was happy with the decision I made.
Q)Were you told last year that you wouldn't be a first round pick?
Odrick: Yeah. That's the feel I got from them. That there were a lot of things I could improve on. So I came back and I did that.
Q)What are some of your strengths as a player?
Odrick: My versatility Also my quickness as a defensive tackle. I think I'm quicker than a lot of DTs in the country. Just my size and capability to play inside or outside and constantly commanding a double-team and play through it and make plays.
