After his fourth season with the ball club, and one day after the team's playoff exit, Lions' defensive end Cliff Avril is already answering questions about his future.
Everyone is asking me do I want to be in Detroit... Yes I'd love to be here but it's not in my hands it's up to them, if they want me
Said Avril, "Everyone is asking me do I want to be in Detroit... Yes I'd love to be here but it's not in my hands it's up to them, if they want me."
Avril inked a one-year tender last August, ending a contract dispute on the premise that the two sides would work towards a long-term deal. He originally joined the Lions as a third round pick out of Purdue in 2008, but has steadily improved ever since, recording a career and team best 11 sacks in 2011.
The Lions could opt to use their franchise tag on Avril, which would pay him the average of the top 10 salaries at the defensive end position.
The free-agency period starts in February.
