And just like that, it’s time to focus on what’s annually become the Super Bowl for Lions Nation: the NFL Draft.
Following a gut-wrenching loss to Dallas on Sunday, in which a controversial penalty turned the tide that doomed Detroit’s postseason aspirations, the team officially landed the No. 23 overall pick in April’s draft.
They also pick at No. 54 and No. 88 in the second and third rounds, respectively. Remaining rounds are not yet determined.
The Lions chose left tackle Riley Reiff in the same position in 2012, and after inconsistent play and injuries hindered the offensive line performance this season, it seems possible another offensive lineman is in order.
They could also go shore up a defensive line that that has several starters that will enter the free agenct market after the Super Bowl, including Pro Bowler Ndamukong Suh.
