Following Wednesday's tragic events, the Detroit Lions proceeded forward in hopes of bettering the ball club.

Thursday, the Lions announced the release of third string running back Reuben Droughns, last year's third round selection out of Oregon.

Droughns will be replaced with former Packers' tailback De'Mond Parker, who was released from Green Bay during training camp. Parker is a better pass catcher than Droughns, and has collaborated more experience with the West Coast offense due to his stay with the Packers.

Parker played backup to Green Bay's Dorsey Levens last year.
