Lions release Staley, three more

The Detroit Lions have released four players today, including last year's seventh-round draft pick Luke Staley. More roster moves were also announced in an official team release.

The Detroit Lions announced released the following players this afternoon:
WR Travis Anglin
RB Luke Staley
LB Ken Philpot
G Zach Wilson.

Anglin, a 6'4 Memphis product, was drafted in the 7th round in April. Staley, a former Doak Walker-award winner with BYU, was drafted last year in the seventh round.

Detroit also placed second-year cornerback Chris Cash (knee) on the Reserve/Injured list. Cash will miss the entire season after suffering torn cartilage.

Meanwhile, rookie running back Artose Pinner (foot) was placed on the Reserve/Non-Football Injury list, keeping him inactive until after Week 6. Defensive end Kalimba Edwards (hernia) was removed from the Physically Unable to Perform list. He is expected to play during the season opener against Arizona.

The Lions must release more players by 4:00PM on Tuesday to reach the 65-man roster limit. They are currently at 78.
