Detroit will score, but the problem will be getting the ball back from the potent Viking offense enough to win. It will take a minor miracle for the Lions to beat the best team in the NFC North, even at home. Detroit doesn't have any miracles on tap.
PICK: Minnesota 30 - Detroit 20
Adrian Donofrio - Staff Writer (2-0)
The Vikings come in with all the weapons they need to exploit every one of Detroit's weaknesses. The Culpepper to Moss combo could have another huge day. The only hope Detroit has is to force Daunte Culpepper to turn the ball over and take full advantage. He fumbles a lot and if Detroit can put the heat on him and make something happen it could make a difference. Otherwise I don't see Detroit having much of a chance versus this passing attack.
PICK: Vikings 31 -- Detroit 21

Traditionally, the Lions and Vikings always play close games. The teams split last season's series 1-1; with the Vikes winning the latter in a 38-36 shootout to close Ford Field's inaugural season. Each team improved on both sides of the ball this past off-season; however, the Vikes have consistently shown those improvements in each of the first two weeks, while the Lions have only in one. The defenses are even, so this game will boil down to who has the better offense. The Vikes' offense has been superb, while the Lions' has flashed it's potential. If Detroit can establish some sort of ground attack to balance the offense, look for the Lions to get the W. But I still see the running game being a problem.
PICK: Minnesota 28 -- Detroit 20.

The two teams have had some close battles recently and I don't see this one being any different. The Vikings win because they are a better balanced offense than Detroit and their defense is more talented. Though I tend to believe Detroit always has a shot when they play at Ford Field
PICK: Minnesota 27 -- Detroit 20

When I receive the staff picks in my e-mail box, it's a rarity for it to be unanimous -- especially against Detroit. So what am I to do? What if this team religiously follows these picks week-to-week? What would that do to their confidence?!? Following the loss to Green Bay, the Lions weren't in dismay. They were in shock. And, despite a blow that would have eliminated the confidence from past Lions' squads, Detroit enters Ford Field on Sunday with something to prove. The Lions outcoach Tice & Company in this one, and knot up the NFC North. As for the newfound confidence? You can thank me later.
