PONTIAC- Lions' wide receiver Herman Moore, who injured his hip in the second quarter of Detroit's 31-26 loss at Minnesota on Sunday, will miss the remainder of the season after tearing a muscle in his hip. With this injury, however, it looks like Moore will never again be in a Detroit Lions uniform, likely because he will be released at the end of this season or after July 1, 2002.
"We're disappointed the injury is much worse than we thought, we believed it was a minor pull, but the MRI showed a significant tear in the muscle," said head coach Marty Mornhinweg.
"That doesn't change that Herman is one of the finest players to ever wear a Detroit Lions uniform."
Larry Foster now will be the Lions' third wide receiver, and was even before Moore's injury -- the Lions had planned to get Foster on the field more. Don't ook for the Lions to sign a wide receiver to the roster.
The team will likely just activate rookie Scotty Anderson and he will be the 5th wide receiver Sunday.
