Lions 30, Rams 20: Rookie Report

Complete rookie recap from Sunday's win over Rams.

LB Boss Bailey – Coming off of his “Pepsi Rookie of the Week” honors as voted by NFL.comers, Bailey finished the season with another brilliant performance.  He had five tackles and an interception off of a Marc Bulger deflected pass.  He was solid in pursuit of the ball and was in great position on the interception.

RB Artose Pinner – Rushing for 51 yards on 18 carries, Pinner took advantage of his most significant amount of playing time this season.  Again, he ran with authority, bowling over would be tacklers and dragging several Rams for three or four yard rides.  He only averaged 2.8 yards per carry, but was able to pick up first downs in key situations.  The most important was on a 4th and 3 with a shade under two minutes remaining, ending the Rams’ hope of a comeback possession.  He also caught three passes for 10 yards.

S/CB Terrence Holt – For the first time in his career, Terrence lined up across from his brother, Rams wide receiver Torry Holt.  Terrence did not tackle or even make contact with Torry in the game, but did breakup a pass intended for the Ram.  Despite having five tackles, the Lions’ Holt got a bit mixed up in the Rams’ spread offensive scheme and gave up a few key plays.

WR David Kircus – Kircus only had one reception, but it was good for 19 yards.  It was a brilliant catch made in heavy traffic courtesy of a Joey Harrington fireball throw.

TE Casey FitzSimmons – Fitz caught his second touchdown pass of the year from Joey Harrington on a playaction fake from the two-yard line.  Fitz lined up on the right side of the offensive line and ran a fade route to the back right pylon on the play.  For the game, he recorded four catches for 36 yards and a score.

Other rookies – RB Avon Cobourne was inactive.  DE/DT Cory Redding and LB James Davis saw minimal playing time and neither recorded a statistic.
