* The Lions will change their game plan some what with Mike McMahon in there, they will have more designed role outs and sprint outs in the game plan that will be called on Sunday to take advantage of McMahon's feet and natural running ability.

* Latef Grim, a wide receiver that is on the Lions practice squad, might be making it to the active roster sometime in the near future. This 6-0, 190 pound wide receiver has good hands, and excellent body control. He is quick into his routes with the ability to separate in coverage. He has adequate speed and running after the catch skills.

* Talking with a member of the Detroit Lions front office, he told me that most of the guys on Injured Reserve wont be back next season with the team, the only one that most likely will be back in Ron Rice. The other players are less likely to be with the team when the regular season opens next year. Those player include CB Robert Bailey, MLB Stephen Boyd, WR Germane Crowell, RB Sedrick Irvin, WR Herman Moore, S Kywin Supernaw, and QB Charlie Batch.

* The player with the best chance to comeback of the above players mentioned is WR Germane Crowell, and there is talk about offering him a one-year deal, because of his age the Lions front office doesn't want to give up on him, but they may be force to if his contract demands are not in line with his market value.

* If the Lions do end up with the second pick in the draft and Junior DE Julius Peppers is not there, then the Lions are thinking about going with the offensive side of the ball. They have sent scouts to check out under classmen WR Antonio Bryant of Pittsburgh, RB Willie Green of Boston College, and also Florida's WR Jabar Gaffney.

* Some seniors that the Lions front office likes are DT John Henderson out of Tennessee, DE/OLB Kalimba Edwards out of South Carolina, CB Quentin Jammer out of Texas, WR Andre Davis out of Virginia Tech, WR Javon Walker out of Florida State, WR Marquise Walker out of Michigan and DE Alex Brown out of Florida. The Lions would like to move down in the draft and draft one of these players if the some of the top juniors don't come out.

*There is some talk that Bryant Westbrook, a free-agent at the conclusion of the season, will only be offered a one-year deal after this season to see if he can full come back from his injury.

* Today's practice was another good one for rookie quarterback Mike McMahon and he is showing that with some playing time and some weapons around him that he can be a good quarterback in this league.

* Quote of the Day: "It's time to step up, grow up and play." - Lions rookie Quarterback Mike McMahon.
