Game Day: Roster Battles

Lions' insider Mike Fowler lists a few roster battles, including one between Scotty Anderson and David Kircus, that will impact Saturday's game

With Alex Lewis hurting, the battle between he and James Davis is over, but several interesting battles remain.

Reggie Swinton vs. Eddie Drummond for the primary kick returner and perhaps that last receiver spot on the roster is heating up.  Swinton took several snaps with the punt return team and Charles Rogers even took a few as the emergency guy.   Drummond must remain healthy and productive or Detroit is willing to go with Swinton.

Nick Harris vs. Curt Ansel is a battle that is tilting in favor of the veteran Harris.  Ansel needs to have a big game, and a smart one, to unseat the veteran Harris.  He needs to get off some booming punts when field position dictates it and then pin the Steelers deep when the opportunity presents itself.

Scotty Anderson vs. David Kircus is a great battle that is heating up.  Kircus is having a good camp, showing the hands and speed that he displayed at Grand Valley, but Anderson, in his extended playing time last season, developed into a more complete player.   He is a deep threat and isn't afraid to go over the middle into the intermediate zones.
