The Detroit Lions whittled their roster to the mandatory 53 on Sunday, releasing veteran kick-returner Reggie Swinton, second-year wide receiver and fan favorite David Kircus, rookie linebacker Andrew Battle, recently signed linebacker Michael Young, running back Avon Cobourne and fullback Stephen Trejo.
The Lions also placed strong safety Brian Walker on injured reserve, immediately ending his season.
Walker had arthoscopic knee surgery during the week.
