Perhaps Johnnie Morton's days as a Lion aren't completely finished afterall.
According to a report in the Star-Tribune, David Dunn, the agent for Lions' free-agent WR Johnnie Morton, was contacted by the Minnesota Vikings several days following Morton's shocking release last Thursday.
According to Dunn, Morton wants to re-sign with the Lions. And that is exactly what he told Vikings' management.
What makes Dunn's comments questionable, however, is his conniving reputation. It is possible that Dunn is attempting to establish the Lions' interest in Morton, and whether or not a return is viable. After releasing Morton, re-signing two players and signing Packers' WR Bill Schroeder on Thursday, the Lions have kept silent regarding future decisions.
But they might want to act quick, because Minnesota isn't the only NFC North squad vying for Morton's services.
The former USC star is scheduled to visit with Tampa Bay on Friday, has garnered strong interest from Green Bay, and is meeting with NFC rival St. Louis on Monday. New Orleans, San Francisco and a slew of other teams are also attempting to arrange a visit.
Dunn is recognized for using crooked tactics to garner his clients the best deal possible. But it is also his job to do so, and something that has made him one of the more fashionable -- and criticized -- agents in the league.
