Lions Sign 5 To Practice Squad; 3 Spots Remain

Lions snag five recently released players to practice squad; three spots remain

After announcing their last waive of cuts Saturday evening, the Detroit Lions picked up a handful of those same players on Sunday, placing them on the team's eight-man roster squad.

The team signed wide receiver's Paris Hamilton (Minnesota) and Glenn Martinez (Saginaw Valley State), fullback Will Matthews (Texas), guard Corey Procter (Montana) and tight end Jason Randall (Michigan State).

Each player was among the eighteen released on Saturday, and managed to clear waivers; ultimately allowing Detroit to invite them back onto the practice squad roster.

With three spots remaining on the squad, it is likely that the Lions will scan the league waiver wire for additional help.

Practice Squad Notes Players that have already spent one season on an NFL practice squad (not consisting of less than three weeks) are not eligible. Furthermore, any player that has accrued a year of league experience (not consisting of less than nine games) is also not eligible. Practice squad players are signed to non-exclusive agreements, allowing them the opportunity to sign elsewhere, excluding the signing team's practice squad.
