FIRST QUARTER: RB Thomas Jones 3-yard touchdown run at 10:10. After an Ian Scott interception of Joey Harrington the Bears took over in Detroit territory. QB Kyle Orton opened the drive with completions of 4 and 5 yards to Muhsin Muhammad. From there Thomas Jones took over, carrying five successive times for 34 yards. The Chicago offensive line opened up huge holes up the middle for Jones, who broke off runs of 18 and 8 yards before taking it outside on a dive for the pylon. PAT by Doug Brien was good. WR Roy Williams 51-yard touchdown reception from Harrington. Following a 41-yard kick return by Eddie Drummond gave the Lions the ball just shy of midfield. Williams beat Bears' corner Charles Tillman off the line and safety Chris Harris was late getting over, which allowed the completion and run after the catch. PAT by Remy Hamilton was blocked by Alfonso Boone. Drive: 1 play, 51 yards in 0:16. Bears 7, Lions 6.
K Doug Brien 48-yard field goal at 6:04. Jerry Azumah setup the drive with a 34-yard kickoff return. Orton hit Muhammad for 14 yards after a false start on Terrence Metcalf put the Bears in 1st and 15. Jones picked up two first downs rushing and Brien put it through the uprights. Drive: 9 plays, 32 yards in 3:50. Bears 10, Lions 6.
SECOND QUARTER: Bobby Wade 73-yard punt return for a touchdown at 11:34. After being inactive in the season opener, Wade took one back on just his fifth career punt return. Justin Gage had the key block to spring Wade, who split the initial coverage. PAT by Brien was good. Drive: 1 play, 73 yards. Bears 17, Lions 6.
WR Muhsin Muhammad 28-yard TD reception from QB Kyle Orton at 1:14. The game turned into a route when Bears' defensive back Nathan Vasher picked off Harrington in the end zone going to Roy Williams, who had cut off his route too early. Thomas Jones ripped off a 14 yard run to start to drive. Orton then hit Muhammad for a 23-yard completion two plays later. Despite a Shaun Rogers sack on Orton, the Bears were able to move the chains thanks to an 11-yard run by Jones followed by a 10-yard reception. The next play Orton went Muhammad in the end zone for his first NFL touchdown completion. The receiver took a big hit by Lions' SS Kenoy Kennedy, but hung on to the ball. PAT by Brien was good. S Mike Brown 41-yard interception return for a touchdown at 0:57. The Bears came up with their third turnover of the first half when Chris Harris hit him on a safety blitz. Brown stepped in front of Harrington's floating ball for the pick and scored for the sixth time in his career. PAT by Brien was good. Bears 31, Lions 6.
FOURTH QUARTER: RB Thomas Jones 16-yard touchdown run at 12:13. Vasher's second interception of Harrington on the day gave the Bears the ball at the Detroit 38. Jones needed just two carries for his second touchdown of the day, picking up 22 and 16 yards on back-to-back carries. PAT by Brien was good. Drive: 2 plays, 38 yards in 0:39 Bears 38, Lions 6.
