The Detroit Lions began the second day of the NFL draft the same way they finished day one: Drafting defense.

With their compensatory fourth round selection (36th overall), Detroit grabbed Montana State defensive tackle John Taylor.

The 6-foot-3, 260 pound Taylor registered 4.5 sacks and 26.5 tackles during his senior campaign. He is has a strong motor, but is a bit undersized for the interior defensive line. Taylor is viewed by many analysts as more of a project with a strong upside, but could provide immediate depth if he makes the team, or be switched to linebacker.
