How can Joey not be #1 after his performance?

Lions' insider runs down the individual player performances from Saturday night. James Mungro, Eddie Drummund, and Chris Cash are among several players that Fowler evaluates following the 24-23 loss to Cleveland.

PAWS FOR THOUGHT:  How can Joey Harrington not be #1 after his performance last night?  The rookie clearly had command of the huddle and the team.  While the offense might have been 'dummed down' a little, Harrington has shown more confidence and ability on every snap he has taken since arriving in Allen Park.  While it is early in the game, it appears the Lions could have their first franchise-type talent since the days of Bobby Layne at quarterback.

Harrington has the unique ability that the very best players seem to possess, the ability to make his teammates better.

James Mungro might have won a roster spot with his play.  Mungro looked easily like the second best running back on the roster, rushing for 37 yards on 7 attempts.  The free agent rookie from Syracuse will certainly get another look prior to the team's preseason opener.

Chris Cash really stepped it up last night.  Cash finished with nine tackles to lead all Lion players and really solified his roster spot.  Josh Thornhill and Jeff Gooch took a step forward, while Crance Clemons and Ken Philpot clearly took steps backwards.  Look out Larry Foster, Eddie Drummond made a big move forward on a night he caught 4 pass for 98 yards including laying out for a beautiful 48 yard bomb.
