On a driving range somewhere in Hawaii, Ikaika Alama-Frances was waiting for his name to be called.

Instead, his cell phone rang. And after a stellar collegiate career at defensive end, Alama-Frances learned he would make the jump to the National Football League with the Detroit Lions.

And to think, a few years ago he didn't even know what a defensive end was.

Alama-Frances was interviewed on WTKG's SportsExtra (1230), a Grand Rapids-based sports radio station. Hosts Bennie Covington and Jeff Daum, along with RoarReport.com publisher Nate Caminata, conducted the interview on Monday evening.
