The next Bo?
Maybe, but if No. 2 overall pick Calvin Johnson is even half as successful as NFL expert Tom Marino believes he will become, the Detroit Lions may have made up for the Mike Williams and Charles Rogers gaffes in one fell swoop.
Marino's words during an interview conducted earlier this week should be music to ears of Lions fans, as the former league scout put him in the same athletic genre as former great Bo Jackson. He also explained why Johnson won't go the route of Williams or Rogers, two prospects that he scouted previously.
Marino was interviewed on WTKG's SportsExtra (1230), a Grand Rapids-based sports radio station. Hosts Bennie Covington and Jeff Daum, along with RoarReport.com publisher Nate Caminata, conducted the interview.
(Tom Marino was a league scout for 35 years, most recently with the St. Louis Rams, where he worked with former Rams coach and current Lions offensive coordinator Mike Martz)
