The National Football League released its 2008 schedule on Tuesday. And for the second consecutive year, Lions' head coach Rod Marinelli's team will open the campaign on the road.
Detroit will travel to Atlanta, where former quarterback Joey Harrington is battling for a roster spot. Unlike last year's tumultuous year-end schedule, however, three of the team's final five games will be played in the confines of Ford Field. In 2007, three of the team's final five were played at Minnesota, San Diego and Green Bay, respectively.
They conclude the 2008 year at Green Bay as well.
"We all look forward to the official announcement of the schedule," Marinelli said in a team release. "And while we have tremendous respect for each of our opponents, the fact remains that the schedule is more about us than it is about who we play and when we play.
"I do believe that we established something very special at Ford Field in 2007, and we need to continue to build upon that home-field advantage this season."
