The preseason champions of last year, the Detroit Lions will look to defend their crown beginning in August.
|1||Atlanta (August 13-17)|
|2||@ Cleveland (Aug. 20-24)|
|3||Indianapolis (Aug. 27-31)|
|4||@ Buffalo (Sept. 3-4)|
The Lions, who went 4-0 in 2008's exhibition season before becoming the only modern NFL team to never win a regular season game, will play host to Atlanta to open the preseason (August 13-17), travel to Cleveland for the traditional Great Lakes Classic a week later, return home to host Indianapolis, before closing out the preseason with a trip to Buffalo.
Local FOX affiliates in Detroit and surrounding areas will televise the games. The NFL Network will rebroadcast each contest.
Although Detroit's regular season schedule has yet to be announced, they will host division rivals Chicago, Green Bay and Minnesota, along with the Arizona Cardinals, St. Louis Rams, Washington Redskins, Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers.
Detroit will travel to each NFC North rival as well, and make trips to San Francisco, Seattle, New Orleans, Baltimore, and Cincinnati.
