Perhaps the timing wasn't right, but a source told Packer Report that the team did not reach out to kicker Rian Lindell during his short time on unemployment.
Lindell was released by Buffalo on Monday and landed in Tampa Bay on Wednesday.
Lindell, 36, made 21-of-24 field-goal attempts with Buffalo last season. In 13 seasons, he made 81.3 percent of his field goals, including 83.3 percent over 10 years with the cold-weather Bills.
The Bills, however, used a sixth-round draft pick on Dustin Hopkins, who was considered the best kicker in the draft.
Perhaps the Packers would have returned that phone call had Mason Crosby missed three consecutive field goals on Tuesday rather than on Wednesday.
The Packers did call Dan Carpenter between getting cut by Miami and signing with Arizona, according to FOXSports.com's Mike Garofolo.
Agents for four of the top unemployed kickers told Packer Report that they have not heard from the Packers. One agent said he "tried like crazy" to get his client a shot but didn't get a return call. "There are some good battles out there so they may be waiting on those," he said.
