The original thought was Suggs would be worked out at linebacker by Dom Capers and company Thursday, but it turns out he strained a muscle in his leg during Wednesday's workout and instead had lunch with several of front office people from Houston. Suggs will work out again for NFL clubs on April 18.
One player quickly moving up draft boards is receiver Kevin Curtis, who has sparkled in the off-season. During a recent pro day workout, his second since the combine, Curtis bettered many of his marks from the previous session. Completing 20 repetitions on the bench, topping 39.5 inches on the vertical jump, he finished off running in the low 4.3's during the 40 (in fact some stopwatches read 4.27).
Remember, during our combine coverage we quoted a noted general manager/personal director from the AFC East stating he felt Curtis was "All-Pro material," and many are starting to feel that way. The feeling is Curtis could land up hearing his name called in the early-to-mid part of round two as teams like the Rams and Chiefs are very high on him.
Finally, we have learned the New England Patriots are bringing defensive end Tully Banta-Cain in for a personnel interview during the beginning of April. Another team high on the California sackmaster is the San Francisco 49ers, who are also bringing him in for a look.
