'Lombardi' Coming to Lambeau Atrium

Fresh from its successful run on Broadway, seven dramatic readings of "Lombardi" will be held before the start of training camp.

Assuming the lockout ends and there are no delays, Green Bay Packers training camp will start with a flurry of activity.

Fran Kirmser and Tony Ponturo, the producers of the acclaimed Broadway show "Lombardi," announced on Thursday that they will bring the hit show home to Wisconsin for a special series of dramatic readings in July.

"Lombardi: A Reading by the Broadway Cast" will be held in the Lambeau Field Atrium on July 26 and 27 and the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center in nearby Appleton on July 28 through July 30. Combined with the annual Packers shareholders meeting on July 28 and the presumed start of training camp on July 30, the football season will be kicked off with a bang.

The Lambeau Field performances, both of which will start at 7:30 p.m., will cost $45. The shows at the Fox Cities PAC will start at 7:30 p.m. on July 28 and 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on July 29 and July 30, with tickets starting at $30.

Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Wednesday by calling Ticketmaster at (800) 982-2787 or online at ticketmaster.com. Groups of 10 or more for Fox Cities can be ordered now by calling (920) 730-3786. Tickets for the Lambeau Field dates also can be purchased at the Packers Ticker Office, while the Fox Cities PAC engagement can be purchased in person at the center's ticket office and online at foxcitiespac.com.

Lombardi is played by Dan Lauria and the play was authored by Wisconsin native Eric Simonson.

"Tony and I are very pleased to find a way to bring the ‘Lombardi' Broadway company to Green Bay and the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center for this series of very special performances," said Kirmser. "There were thousands who made the trek to see the play during our Broadway run, and we are now looking forward to bringing ‘The Coach' home to Wisconsin for what will be some memorable nights in July."
