White 'honored' to join Legends

The Vince Lombardi Titletown Legends Charitable Organization officially announced Sunday that former Packers defensive end Reggie White is the first non-Lombardi era Packer to become a part of the organization.<p>

White will be featured as a guest of honor and inducted as an honorary Legend as the Lombardi Legends plan to host a pre-game breakfast for Packers fans before the season opener against the Minnesota Vikings on Sept. 7. The breakfast will be at Shopko Hall across from Lambeau Field. Bart Starr, Willie Davis, Willie Wood, Max McGee, Fuzzy Thurston and other Packer legends will be in attendance.

"It is an honor to be selected to become a part of the Vince Lombardi Titletown Legends and to team up with men like Bart Starr, Willie Davis, Paul Hornung, Willie Wood and all of Lombardi's Packers," said White. "When I first came to Green Bay and saw those names on the ring of honor at Lambeau Field looking at them inspired and motivated me and still does today. It makes me proud to contribute my support to this group of great men and to aid them in their mission of helping others in the Green Bay community."

The festivities will include a formal presentation and question and answer session where fans will hear what it was like to be a Lombardi Packer and win the first two Super Bowls. All participants will receive a full breakfast and have an opportunity for autographs and photos with selected players. A limited amount of packages are available with a player, "legend" of your choice, or White seated at your table. A pre-breakfast VIP event is also available, including a private photo and autograph opportunity with Reggie White and the legends.

The special event is a fund-raiser for the Vince Lombardi Titletown Legends. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Urban Hope Project, founded by White, and the Boys & Girls Club of Green Bay. A $50 per person donation is required for breakfast and the full program. Tables with players and VIP packages are available for an additional donation. A portion of the purchase price is tax deductible.

It is Lombardi's philosophy of "dedication to doing with our lives the very best we can to make the world a better place in which to live" that is the foundation for the organization's mission. To date, 15 non-profit organizations throughout Wisconsin have received endowments through the fund-raising efforts of the Lombardi Legends.

In addition to the breakfast, the Lombardi Legends have a variety of fund-raising initiatives planned for the season. They include the sale of autographed memorabilia, a line of "Legends" and Vince Lombardi merchandise, golf outing and fan fest in Las Vegas, Lombardi Leadership Conference and more.

Basketball coach Bobby Knight will be inducted as an honorary Lombardi Legend Aug. 20 at the Lombardi Leadership Conference in Green Bay.

To purchase tickets to the breakfast, make a tax-deductible donation or be added to the legends mailing list, call (920) 499-7138, e-mail at Lombardi22@aol.com, or write to the Titletown Legends at 2830 Ramada Way, Green Bay, WI 54304.
