'Big Griz' bites on Packers' offer

Defensive tackle James Lee, one of the Packers' two fifth-round selections in the 2003 NFL draft, signed a three-year contract with the Packers on Wednesday.<p>

Lee is the first of Green Bay's nine draft picks to sign a contract. He probably received a signing bonus between $100,000 and $200,000, according to reports. Green Bay's other picks are expected to follow in the near future.

Like first round draft pick Nick Barnett, Lee is not allowed per NFL rule to participate in the current June minicamp because Oregon State is still in session.

Lee played in 23 games during the last two seasons for Oregon State but did not start. He finished the 2002 season with 29 tackles (19 unassisted, 7 for loss), broke up 3 passes, recovered 1 fumble and forced another.

The Packers say he is nicknamed "Big Griz" for the growl he emits at the line of scrimmage.
