Franchise Tag Cheaper Than Past

The projected tenders are down across the board, from a little (offensive line) to a lot (defensive line).

Teams can apply the franchise tag from Feb. 20 through March 5, with free agency beginning on March 13. For the Green Bay Packers, the numbers to note are tight end (Jermichael Finley), offensive line (Scott Wells) and, though unlikely, quarterback (Matt Flynn).
