Here are some of the features of training camp 2001 in Green Bay:
Fan Welcome Tent: An entrance tent, located at Oneida St. & Arena Dr. will be the main entry for Training Camp and a focal point for fans. This will be the entry for bleacher seating and it is directly across from the designated fan parking area on the east side of the stadium. Not only will it be convenient for fans, it's also the point where Packers players, riding local youngster's bicycles, will enter the training camp grounds.
In addition, there will be expanded concessions and merchandise offerings at the tent, as well as a picnic area for fans to get out of the sun and cool off. (Note: Arena Drive is the street immediately in front of the Arena entrance.)
Expanded Bleacher Seating: Fan seating during camp will more than double from last season; going from 8 bleacher units to 20 units which can accommodate 1,000 fans. Bleachers will extend along Oneida St. from Potts Avenue to Packer Dr.
Perimeter Fencing: In order to provide a safe environment for fans attending Training Camp, a perimeter fence will encompass the grounds from the corner of Potts & Oneida Streets, continuing along Oneida Street to Arena / Packer Drives. This perimeter fence will help control traffic and provide an easy entrance / egress to the camp. Please note: Due to construction, there will not be an entrance to bleacher seating from Potts Ave. and Oneida Street. However, fans will be able to stand along the sidewalk on Potts Avenue. Bleacher seating can be accessed from the corner of Oneida St. & Arena Dr.
Restrooms: More portable restrooms will be available for fans.
Bike Racks: Complimentary bike racks will be added to accommodate the Packers bike riding tradition.
Practice Times Posting: Sandwich board signs will be positioned at the entrance, informing fans of practice dates and times, as well as the status of current practice sessions. These signs will help fans in planning their day at training camp.
Premium Item Giveaways: During select days throughout training camp, fans will receive a premium item, courtesy of the Green Bay Packers.
Live Radio Remotes: Various radio stations will be broadcasting from Packers Training Camp adding to the electricity of the start of a new football season.
Autograph Sessions: Fans will once again have the opportunity to secure autographs of Packers players and coaches during training camp. The sessions will be held following morning practice on most days (July 28, 29, 30, & 31. August 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 22 & 23). Dates are subject to change and sessions will be held, weather permitting.
PARKING/TRAINING CAMP ENTRY
Free Parking: Complimentary parking will be available at Lambeau Field, located in the area directly across from Arena & Packer Drives. Please use the north Oneida Street entrance. (The south entrance is restricted to construction vehicles only.)
Pedestrian Crosswalk at Oneida Street: Pedestrians will cross from the Lambeau Field parking lot to the east side of Oneida Street at Arena Drive. The crosswalk leads directly to the Fan Welcome tent. City of Green Bay police officers will hand-operate traffic signals during peak crossing periods.
Arena Drive Walkway. Arena drive will be used primarily for pedestrian traffic in and out of the Training Camp grounds.
ROADS & TRAFFIC
Closure of Packer Dr.: The section of Packer Dr. from the northeast corner of the Hutson Center to the intersection of Oneida St. will be closed for the duration of the training camp (July 28 - Aug. 24), except during the two Packers home games on Aug. 20 and 25. For those two games, Packer Dr. will be used as a shuttle bus drop-off point for park and ride commuters. The Village of Ashwaubenon will control this closure.
Oneida Street Lane Closure: The northbound curb lane on Oneida St., between Potts Ave. and Arena Dr., will be closed during training camp practice hours.
