Roster Moves

The Packers recently signed cornerback Corey Chamblin and defensive tackle Jon Krick because of injuries to their defensive linemen and cornerbacks. Chamblin joined the Packers in time for today's morning practice. Krick joined the team on Wednesday.

Krick, 6-2 and 283 pounds, has played for the Albany (N.Y.)/Indiana Firebirds of the Arena League for the past three seasons after completing a distinguished career at Purdue, posting 51 tackles, including 36 solo, 23 assists, 7.5 quarterback sacks and 7 passes defensed. He also made 4 tackles for loss and recovered 2 fumbles..

A four-year starter for the Boilermakers and seeing service at both end and tackle, he served as a team captain for each of his last three seasons (1994-95-96). He closed out his Purdue career with 144 total tackles, 89 of them solo, with 15 tackles for loss, 3 pass breakups, 1.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble..

To make room on the roster for Krick, the Packers released defensive back Tony Darden. Darden injured his leg early in training camp. He and the Packers agreed to an injury settlement..

Chamblin was out of football last year. He was a three-year starter at Tennessee Tech, then signed as an undrafted free agent with the Baltimore Ravens in April of 1999. He was released by the Ravens in the final cutdown of the 1999 training camp, then signed with Jacksonville where he was active for the last nine games of the 1999 season. Chamblin remained with the Jaguars until he was released in late August of 2000.
