The dark-blue jerseys feature a large yellow circle on the front, with the players' numbers in dark blue inside the circle. The pants are tan and the helmets are brown to simulate the leather helmets worn decades ago.
They may or may not be fashionable, depending on your viewpoint, but the players loved them. At least, they loved them when they were made by Reebok. Now, Nike makes the uniforms.
"Pumped we are wearing the alternate unis for a game this year. By far the most comfortable football pants I've ever worn," punter Tim Masthay said on Twitter, echoing what quarterback Aaron Rodgers said before the 2011 game against St. Louis.
"Love them. Love them. Love them," Rodgers said at the time. "I'll be honest, I looked at the picture last year, and I was a little bit leery of, 'What's that going to look like?' But I'll tell you what, and you'll probably hear it from some other guys, the pants that we have are the most comfortable pants. I've been looking forward to this game all year because of those pants. I don't know what the problem is, why we can't get the same material during every other game. But I'm telling you, these brown pants, whatever, tan, are so comfortable."
The Packers are 2-0 with their throwbacks: 34-16 over San Francisco in 2010, a win highlighted by Donald Driver's remarkable catch-and-run touchdown, and 24-3 over St. Louis in 2011. The Packers did not wear their throwbacks last season.
Take 12: Aaron Rodgers will have a guest role in the NBC comedy "The Office." The episode airs at 8 p.m. (Central) on Thursday.
