Packers Training Camp Countdown: 8 Days

Every day until the start of camp on July 26, we'll provide one juicy nugget to whet your appetite for the return of football. We'd give you more but the CBA forbids two-a-days. Sorry. During Dom Capers' four years, the Packers have posted some absolutely staggering interception numbers.

Last season, the Green Bay Packers tied for eighth in the league in interceptions.

It would have been a fine season by most standards. By the Packers' standards under Dom Capers, however, it was a disappointment.

Over the last four seasons, the Packers' 103 interceptions lead the league by a mile. New England is a distant second with 86. Green Bay finished first with 31 in 2011 and 30 in 2009, and was second with 24 in 2010. The Packers have the only 30-interception seasons in the league during Capers' tenure.

The team-by-team totals are incredible. Since 2009, New England is second with 86 interceptions — 17 behind Green Bay.

Chicago is third with 78. That's a difference of 25 interceptions — more than the Bears had in any one season during the past four seasons. Atlanta is fourth with 76. That's a difference of 27 interceptions — more than the Falcons had in any one season during the past four seasons.

Philadelphia is fifth with 71 interceptions. That's a difference of 32 interceptions — more than any team had in any one season over the past four seasons.

The Packers have at least 40 more interceptions than a whopping 18 teams, at least 50 more interceptions than seven teams and twice as many interceptions as four teams. Moreover, they have more interceptions than the Lions and Vikings combined.
