Mock Draft Muncher Spits Out Shazier as No. 1

In the 2014 unveiling of's two-round Mock Draft Muncher, defense is the name of the game in the first round of next month's draft. See how the Packers' picks in the first two rounds trend from 11 mock drafts munched this time.

With Ryan Shazier and Calvin Pryor available, the Green Bay Packers used their first-round pick on Shazier.

So says's Mock Draft Muncher.

In four of the 11 two-round mock drafts "munched" in's innovative Mock Draft Muncher, the Packers wound up landing Shazier — the ultra-athletic and versatile linebacker from Ohio State. The runner-up was Pryor, the hard-hitting safety from Louisville, who was selected three times. Other choices in the mock drafts that were "munched" were Alabama inside linebacker C.J. Mosley (twice; he ultimately went 20th to Arizona), Notre Dame nose tackle Louis Nix (twice) and Northern Illinois safety Jimmie Ward (once).

If you're keeping score, the Packers used their pick on defense in all 11 of those mock drafts.

The drafts selected for the Mock Draft Muncher had to be two rounds.

In the second round, Green Bay landed Washington tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins. Seferian-Jenkins, Stanford outside linebacker Trent Murphy and Penn State nose tackle DaQuan Jones each were selected in two mock drafts. Others were USC center Marcus Martin, Washington State safety Deone Bucannon, Fresno State receiver Davante Adams, LSU receiver Jarvis Landry and Wisconsin inside linebacker Chris Borland.

The Muncher will be updated on a weekly basis as mocks are revised and worthwhile mocks are added.
