The Green Bay Packers claimed defensive end Aaron Fields on waivers Wednesday from the Dallas Cowboys and released tackle James Grier
Fields, a second-year pro, had appeared in three regular-season games for the Cowboys after signing on as a rookie free agent (April 19). He spent the first 11 weeks of last year on the Atlanta Falcons practice squad before
being signed by the Cowboys on Nov. 8 to replace Chad Hennings, who was lost
for the season with a neck injury.
An All-Southlands Conference selection as a senior at Troy State, he recorded 54 tackles, 21 quarterback pressures, 14 tackles behind the line of scrimmage and seven quarterback sacks in his final collegiate season.
In another transaction, the Packers have reached an injury settlement with defensive tackle Matt Keneley and he has been waived off of the injured reserve list.
